On January 14, 2026, at 12:20 PM, the Tamil Flag was proudly hoisted at Halifax City Hall as part of the Tamil Heritage Month celebrations, marking a historic and deeply meaningful moment for the Tamil community in the Maritimes.
The ceremony took place at Grand Parade, City Hall, under the auspices of the Halifax Regional Municipality. The Tamil Flag stood as a powerful symbol of the ancient language, rich culture, resilience, and enduring identity of the Tamil people. The hoisting reaffirmed the community’s collective commitment to preserving and celebrating Tamil heritage, while sharing its values of knowledge, unity, and human dignity with the wider community.
